Organic Pecan and Fruit Tree Program
Planting:
Plant in a wide, rough sided or square hole. If tree is bare root, spread out the roots so they will grow
into the surrounding soil. Do not plant bare root or trees in pots any deeper than their root flare.
Back fill with the same soil that was removed from the hole. When hole is filled, water deeply to remove any
air pockets in the soil, (water until the soil stops bubbling). Sprinkle an organic fertilizer around the
root ball area. Add one inch of compost topped with 4 inches of a course mulch, (do not let the mulch touch
the trunk of the tree). Do not take, wrap or cut back the top of the tree.
Keep the root zone covered with mulch.
