Turf Grass
Proper care for your new lawn will greatly improve the health and appearance of you lawn and
increase the probability of a successful planting.
The sod when cut from the sod farm is cut with a machine that cuts the roots.
The root system has been reduced and the turf will suffer some transplant shock.
Both of these conditions can be compensated for by adequate watering.
Newly installed sod must be kept wet for several weeks.
Several shallow and frequent watering is necessary for success.
The following are guide lines for proper watering and care.
1. Your new turf grass comes to you heavily fertilized from the sod farm.
Do not add fertilizer for at least 3 months.
2. The new sod and soil directly beneath it must be kept constantly moist
for three weeks. I recommend watering daily, usually a quarter of an inch at a time is sufficient,
You may need to water several times a day depending on the weather conditions.
